Terms of Service

By using Word→MD you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short and written in plain language.

If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the site.

1. The service

Word→MD is a free, browser-based document conversion tool. It converts between formats such as Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt), EPUB, Markdown, HTML, reStructuredText and LaTeX using the Pandoc engine compiled to WebAssembly.

The service is provided free of charge and requires no registration.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the site for any unlawful purpose, not to attempt to disrupt, overload or interfere with the operation of the site, and not to use automated means to scrape or mirror the site's pages.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to convert the documents you process with the tool.

3. Your content and rights

Your documents are processed locally in your browser and never transmitted to us. We claim no ownership or license over your content.

You retain all rights to the documents you convert and to the output files you create.

4. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Document conversion is inherently lossy between formats. Always review converted output before relying on it; complex layouts, tracked changes and exotic formatting may not survive conversion perfectly.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Word→MD and its maintainers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including loss of data or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

Keep your own backups. The site never receives your files, so it cannot lose them — but it also cannot recover them.

6. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

7. Open-source licenses
